Gather the identity documents first

Almost every step that follows — assessments, pension changes, bank authority — asks for the same handful of documents. Collect them once, keep them together, and tell one other family member where they are. Birth certificate, Medicare card, Centrelink Customer Reference Number, myGov details, passport or driver licence, the property title, and any existing will or legal documents.
